Religious Mentoring Program to Build Worship Habits and Spiritual Awareness among Students at SDQ Darul Ulum
Keywords:
Religious Mentoring; Worship Habits; Spiritual AwarenessAbstract
Building worship habits and spiritual awareness among elementary students is often described as a gradual process that depends on consistent supervision, reflection, and family support. However, at SDQ Darul Ulum, a daily religious mentoring program recorded progress in all participating students. This study aims to describe the design and implementation of the program and to examine how students developed while taking part in it. A qualitative approach with a descriptive case study design was used. The subjects were nine students and their mentoring teacher. Data were collected through observation, documentation, and teacher interviews, and analyzed using the interactive model of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing, with triangulation to maintain validity. The findings show that the program runs every day from 07.30 to 08.30, with material alternating weekly between Qur’an recitation and shalat and other acts of worship. Each 60-minute session follows six fixed stages, supported by light evaluation, simple daily targets, and weekly reflection. All nine students progressed in four areas: recognition of hijaiyah letters, reading fluency, progression in reading level, and memorization and worship practice. This development corresponds to the program design. However, the records are descriptive, no standardized test was used, and progress cannot be attributed solely to the program. The study contributes a replicable model of integrated mentoring that supports SDG 4 on quality education. Future research should use standardized assessment and a larger sample size.
